Meet Customer Service Manager JON SITERLET

Jon Siterlet of MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry

“Good enough are two words you won’t see together at MINDSCAPE. If it’s not great, it’s not done.” Jon Siterlet, Customer Service Manager // MINDSCAPE AT HANON MCKENDRY

What made you want to become an IT admin/customer support rep?

"I just enjoy helping people. Not everyone is tech savvy when it comes to things like computers and the web, which is fine. I couldn’t tell you the first thing about cars; when my car isn’t running properly and guys start throwing all these big words at me, it goes right over my head. So I know what it’s like to be lost/confused, and that’s why I enjoy helping people to understand what’s going on with all this digital craziness."

What are three things you like most about MINDSCAPE?

"The environment. - everyone here has a great and unique personality and it makes coming to work enjoyable. Flexibility - having the option to work from home and to work either 4 or 5 day weeks is a great setup and helps to keep things from getting stale. The teamwork and respect for one another - everyone here has their own skills, and we each contribute them in our own way to create great products."

What attracted you to MINDSCAPE?

"The ability to gain real-world work experience alongside of school was a big draw for me. Many of the things we learn in college are abstract and don’t have much meaning until we can actually apply them. With MINDSCAPE, I have the opportunity to learn new skills at school and apply them to work the next day."

While working, what makes you smile the most?

"Some of the programmers have a running joke about my pseudo-incompetence as an IT guy. They seem to think I should be able to fix EVERYTHING, including their broken relationships!"

What do you do for fun?

"I split my time between being an athlete and a media man. I enjoy movies, books, magazines, TV shows (HBO), gaming, hockey, golf, basketball, cards, and many other things in between."

What's one thing most of the MINDSCAPE team doesn't know about you?

"In high school, I built a robot that plays Guitar Hero. For real! I made it out of custom designed pieces and Lego motors. It won first place in a regional competition and the Director’s Award at the world Robofest. One of my greatest personal accomplishments to date."

If you could say anything to the person reading this, what would it be?

"With any kind of product or service, there are companies who “get it” and companies who don’t. Quite simply, we get it. If you need something, come to us."

I'm slightly crazy, but in a good way.
