Meet Designer MARK SWANSON

Mark Swanson, Designer at MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry

“MINDSCAPE takes a really creative approach to what we do. Not just the designers sitting upstairs with Photoshop, but the developers downstairs who are brainstorming on an innovative solution to a complex problem, or the marketing department dreaming up a brilliant way to share your idea with others.”
Mark Swanson, Designer // MINDSCAPE AT HANON MCKENDRY

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

"I wanted to be a lot of things. A rockstar, a professional wrestler, a ventriloquist, and an artist are four that come to mind. I lack the technical proficiency to become a rockstar, the body mass to become pro-wrestler, and two dummies on stage would be a pretty weak ventriloquist act. I get to work in Photoshop and Illustrator all day, so I will reluctantly say I've achieved my dream of being an artist. I still play music and body slam midgets in my free time, though."

What made you want to become a designer?

"I really like the creative side of web development. Concepting, design, UX, etc. It's really cool to bring an idea to life and see what it turns into with a talented group of people behind it."

What are three things you like most about MINDSCAPE?

"The quality of people at MINDSCAPE and the work they do is really impressive - I learn new things from people here all the time. The flexibility of the job and the people make it hard to imagine working with another team. I also really like the transparency of the company and the level playing field that everyone shares here."

What's rewarding about working with MINDSCAPE?

"I love to see something come together. Months after the initial concepting stage, it's great to see how it evolves and what we have to show for our hard work. Oh, and the free M&M's in the office. Yeah, mostly the M&M's."

How do you typically spend your 4-day weekends?

"I like to spend time with my girlfriend and dog. I like to play music, work out, go to comedy shows and have a cocktail or two."

If you could say anything to the person reading this, what would it be?

"Let me create something for you."
